Help Launch Brass Roots Fest

Equal Measure Arts is proud to help support the launch of Brass Roots Fest, a free, one-day public music and arts festival taking place on September 13th, 2026 at Bug Light Park in South Portland, Maine.

Brass Roots Fest is designed to celebrate creativity and community by bringing together live music, visual art, food vendors, and family-friendly programming in one of the city’s most iconic waterfront settings. The festival is envisioned as a welcoming, inclusive
gathering that reflects South Portland’s commitment to cultural enrichment, civic engagement, and community pride.

The project has already received strong support from the city's leadership, with the shared goal of launching Brass Roots Fest as a pilot event in 2026 and establishing it
as an annual cultural arts festival beginning in 2027.

Brass Roots Productions is an arts organization that connects artists, audiences, and education through music and creative collaboration. The organization's work is built around three pillars: representing and supporting artists; producing performances, concerts and events; and offering educational experiences for musicians and music lovers alike that foster creativity, and a deeper appreciation of music through cultural exchange. Brass Roots creates projects that encourage new voices, and bring people together to celebrate diversity, inspire learning, and enrich our communities.

Bug Light (built in 1875) - This small lighthouse is one of the most distinctive in Casco Bay. Inspired by an ancient Greek monument, its design celebrates the historic tradition of patrons supporting music, theater, and the arts.
